Pandemic!
So...this pandemic, huh. What a jolt to humanity about our fleeting existence. How vulnerable we are to anything and everything but how we still think we are in control. How insignificant we are in grand scheme of things. And yet instead of living everyday, as every wise man ever has said, we fight and struggle everyday for the future that’s unknown. Here we were planning for the future and putting things in place as optimistic humans usually do and, Bam! Talk about being blindsided. Suddenly the world became a very scary place. Not just for us, for our families far away and our loved ones in this country. For our kids and spouses and friends. Suddenly our community became so much more than we ever thought it was. Neighbors checking on neighbors, offering every kind of help. Strangers became acquaintances. And we realized we can survive this. It was like a veil had been lifted from our eyes and everything became clear. Took a teeny tiny virus to do what all the books and mythology and eons of wisdom couldn’t do for us:-)
And 6 months into this and life seems normal as it is now. I don’t clearly remember when was I not wearing a mask! That’s the beauty of human brain. We adapt. And we will adapt in the future too. But once we are over this and we will be, let’s keep this camaraderie going. Let’s check on neighbors and friends anyway. Let’s not go back into a bubble where we are all alone because if there’s one thing we must learn from this is, we are not. We thrive when we care about each other and humans, as social as we are, need each other. So here’s to COVID for teaching us something that we should’ve known all along, we are all in this together:-)
Until later,
